    • Thursday - Holiday Hats (wear your favorite Christmas hat) 
    • Friday - Christmas Cartoon Day (dress like your favorite Christmas cartoon)

  • November 11 is Veteran's Day. There is no school. 
  • November 12 - If you are making a turkey in disguise it is due this day. Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are also due this day.
  • November 19 - Thanksgiving Theme Day and "Anything but a Backpack Day."

    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • If possible, a few students still need to bring in $5 to help offset the cost of our harvest party on Friday, October 22nd. Thank you so much! 
  • Pumpkin Book Report projects need to be brought to school on Wednesday, October 27th. A note describing this project was sent home last week. 
  • There will be a school-wide Harvest Party on Friday, October 29th. This is also a theme day. Students may wear their pajamas that fit within the dress code. 
  • Students are required to wear masks in school this week. 
  • November 10th will be a no school day for students. Teachers will have professional learning this day. 
  • November 11th is Veteran's Day. There is no school.

  • There will be an early out on Wednesday, October 20th. All students are dismissed at 12:30pm. 
  • The end of the first nine weeks is Thursday, October 21st. 
  • Pumpkin Book Report projects need to be brought to school on Wednesday, October 27th. A note describing this project was sent home last week. 
  • There will be a school-wide Harvest Party on Friday, October 29th. If possible, sixth grade students need to bring in $5 to help offset the cost of this party for our class by Friday, October 22nd. Thank you so much!

     ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • A paper describing a "Pumpkin Book Report" project was sent home this week. Please be sure to check with your child about this project. It's a fun activity, but it will be counted as a test grade. Decorated pumpkins need to brought to school on October 27th
  • Memorizing prepositions begins this week! Your child was given a list of prepositions to memorize. There will be a test on these words on Tuesday, October 19th. Start studying! 
  • The Literature Fair is this week! Project set up is in the elementary gymnasium on Wednesday, October 13th, between 7:30 and 8:00am. 
  • Students are required to wear masks in school this week.

Welcome Back to School

 Welcome to Sixth Grade!! 

I can't wait for our year to get started.

Open House is Monday, August 16th from 5:30 to 6:30pm
I hope everyone will stop by and check out your new supplies and learning space! 

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 18th. 

In addition to the supplies purchased by the school, each student will need the following as quickly as possible:

Spirit Week 2021

My Many Colored Monday - wear as many colors as you can!

Top Hat Tuesday  - wear your favorite hat and/or stripes

Wacky Wednesday - be mismatched/ wacky socks;/dress like the Lorax with a mustache on your mask

Theodore Thursday - dress like your favorite Seuss character

Feeling Comfy Friday -– wear pajamas (pj pants) and get ready for DEAR day!

 
We will be having a “Spot the Dot” fundraiser (in place of the annual penny war).  Students will be able to purchase “dots” for their classroom doors for points! 

We will also be earning points for participating in theme days and for learning the theme and Bible verse that will be shouted out when the Spirit Stick makes its way to the classroom!

The elementary and secondary winner of Spirit Week will have lunch brought in from the place of their choice.
We will be selling treats for $1 each during Spirit Week.

There will be a poster contest.  This is an individual contest, and we encourage everyone to participate.  Put your name on the back and incorporated the theme! Prizes will be given individually for the winner of the poster contest.

Adjustment to Test Schedule

This week's history test has been moved to Thursday, February 25, per the students request. Normally, I do not give tests on Thursday as this puts the students in a position of studying on Wednesday night; however, after the students asked me several times, I requested permission from the office. The students received their study guide on Monday, February 22. I hope this helps everyone. Have a great evening!!

It's been a great return to school! I am so excited to be back together again! We will continue next week with getting back into the swing of things and catching up in the areas where you feel you need a little more instruction.
